Snider Comment
“Take a minute to laugh. Because we now see the truth.”
But who exactly should we be laughing at? The Capital implies the politicians who designed the system. But I’d suggest it should be the Capital, which mindlessly echoed and thus endorsed the politicians’ claims that the proposed new process would rise above politics, another ill-defined terms the Capital loves to use. The Capital should have been contributing to the discussion, not viewing itself as a passive observer and outlet for legislators’ spin. What we should be laughing at is the incredibly poor public deliberation in this county about a major change in election procedure. The change was an improvement over the status quo, but that is no excuse for the low quality of public deliberation on this issue.
