Our Say: Re-election of Anne Arundel school board leaders was an attempt to influence the November vote, July 24, 2018.
Snider Comment
“a blatant attempt to influence the outcome of the election”
In my memory, this is the first time the Capital has called out such Board of Education politics. But the Board of Education has been knee deep in attempts to influence Board of Education appointments/elections (remember that the current process for both adult and student board members involves stages of both appointment and election) for a long time. Some previous cases have been far more egregious than this, including blatantly skirting unenforced ethics guidelines (the AACPS Ethics Panel is the epitome of a government body riven by conflicts of interest and corruption) and perhaps even the law (but who would have an incentive to prosecute such violations?).
